Updated: Jun 14, 2022

Every one of us has ups and downs in our lives which affects us in several ways. We experience a rollercoaster of emotions such as happiness, sadness, jealousy, anger, loneliness, etc.

Many times these emotions interfere with our daily chores, goals of life, thought process, etc. When a person cannot cope up with situations, they begin to lose their peace of mind.

In developing countries, the decline of mental health neglects the social dimensions, family and personal touches remain the irreversible effects.

What is counselling?

Counselling is a way of helping people to solve their own emotional, social, personal or interpersonal problems. People generally assume counselling means giving advice or solving your problems on behalf of you, infact, counselling helps to show different dimensions to understand the situation. It helps you identify your strengths and weaknesses without being judgmental. It suggests strategies for managing and altering patterns of upsetting thoughts, feelings and behaviour.

Anxiety, depression, loneliness and sadness, feeling hopeless are some common counselling concerns.

People who seek help from certified counsellors mention that it is a helpful way of dealing with problematic situations and feelings. It enhances their ability to meet new challenges they face so they can enjoy life. They tend to become more confident and excel in their academic, professional, and personal life.
