How To Remain Calm During Exams

Updated: Jul 12, 2022

Exams can undoubtedly cause anxiety in students. Due to this, a large number of students face issues like anxiety and self doubt during exam time. This reduces their productivity and concentration and can cause mental health issues. So today we are going to tell you some ways to cope with stress and stay calm during exams.

  1. Prepare in Advance: Prepare for your exam in advance. Avoid last minute cramming and studying too much one day before an exam. Ensure proper sleep a night before so that you don't feel sleepy on the exam day and your brain remains active.

  2. Think Positive: Many people think negatively about the exam prior to its occurrence. This makes you feel uncomfortable and you might not be able to write even those things that you know. So just be positive and practice self-talk. Even an “I can do this'' will work.

  3. Take Deep Breaths: Taking deep and long breaths will reduce your stress and will help you concentrate. Just close your eyes, inhale slowly through your nose and slowly exhale from your mouth.

  4. Take a Break: If you feel very exhausted and unable to concentrate, you must take a break to refresh your mind. It can be anything that makes you feel good. You can go for a walk, take a nap, cook your favorite dish, and spend quality time with your family.

  5. Laugh a little and be comfortable: You can spend some time with friends and enjoy yourself. Humor can reduce your stress easily. Also, make yourself comfortable with the environment in the examination hall. Reach 20 minutes before and get yourself comfortable on your seat if possible. Don't hesitate while writing answers.

Finally, we just want to say that it's just an exam and not your whole life! You just have to write whatever you have studied. Believe in yourself, you can do that.
