The ‘Right’ Ingredients of a Fruit Salad

Fruit salads have become very popular among the latest health-conscious generation. They are an appealing way to consume your daily dose of ‘Healthy’, as they are much more accessible and fulfilling to eat than whole fruits. They are not only low on carbs but also high on fibre which makes them an ideal part of any diet and perfect for light snacking between meals. However, everything is easier if listed out clearly and a list of ‘Right’ ingredients for a salad is given below:


Ingredients


For salad

  • 1 pound of strawberries, hulled and quartered

  • 6oz blueberries

  • 6oz raspberries

  • 3 kiwis, peeled and sliced

  • 1 orange, peeled and wedges cut in half

  • 2 apples, peeled and chopped

  • 1 mango, peeled and chopped

For dressing

  • 1/4 c. honey

  • 1/4 c. freshly squeezed orange juice

  • Zest of 1 lemon

To make your own delightful bowl of fruits just add all of these freshly cut fruits to a bowl and add a drizzle of the sweet dressing as required.


Fruit salads have many benefits to them like:


  • Fruits are high in fibre, low in carbs, and nill in saturated sugars, which help keep the blood cholesterol level in check and reduce the risk of obesity. The fibre in the food improves digestion and promotes the growth of various good bacteria that reduce the risk of various diseases.

  • Fruits are also a great source of essential vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. Fruits like bananas, oranges, and avocados that are rich in potassium can help you maintain normal blood pressure, vitamin C proves beneficial in controlling body weight, Fruits are rich in calcium, magnesium and even essential vitamins like Vitamin K and Vitamin E.


  • Fruits have other benefits also

    • They are high on antioxidants that help the skin to retain its radiance and glow

    • Fruits with high-fibre content also prevent the formation of kidney stones.

    • They can also make the immune system stranger by increasing our resistance to germs and diseases.

    • Fruits like apricot, apple, and grapefruit are rich in flavonoids, carotenoids, fibre, potassium and magnesium that protects the heart against a plethora of diseases.
